Understanding the Rules: Shared Appliances and Furniture, Areas #
In a CoLiving space, all provided appliances and furniture are the property of KUMMUNI and are intended for the shared use of all tenants. No tenant has the right to claim exclusive ownership or restrict others from using these items. This principle of shared access is essential to fostering a fair and equitable living environment.
Why Restricting Access Is Wrong #
When a tenant restricts access to shared appliances or furniture, it disrupts the balance of the living arrangement and undermines the rights of other tenants. Such behavior is not only unfair but also a violation of the rental agreement you signed with KUMMUNI. As a tenant, you are paying rent, which includes the right to use all shared amenities provided in your CoLiving space. Restricting access deprives others of what they are entitled to, creating an atmosphere of inequality and potential conflict.
Your Rights as a Tenant #
At KUMMUNI, we are committed to fairness and equality. Every tenant has the right to use the shared appliances and furniture without interference or restriction. No one should feel like a victim in their own home. You are paying for a service that includes access to these shared items, and it is your right to use them freely. If someone tries to deny you this right, it is important to understand that this is not acceptable behavior and that KUMMUNI is here to protect you.
What You Should Do #
If you experience a situation where a flatmate is claiming exclusive use of shared appliances or furniture, it is important to act immediately. Do not hesitate to report the issue to KUMMUNI. Here’s what you should do:
- Report the Issue Immediately:
As soon as you notice that someone is restricting access to shared items, inform KUMMUNI through the myKUMMUNI app. Choose the appropriate department and provide detailed information about the situation. - Know That KUMMUNI Will Protect You:
Once informed, KUMMUNI will take swift action to address the issue. We are committed to ensuring that all tenants are treated fairly and that your rights are upheld. If necessary, we will take legal action against the tenant who is violating the rental agreement. - Legal Framework:
In Germany, claiming ownership of or restricting access to someone else’s property is considered a violation of property law. According to Section 242 of the German Civil Code (BGB), this behavior can be classified as unlawful, potentially leading to civil or criminal charges. KUMMUNI will not hesitate to open a lawsuit to protect its business assets and ensure that all tenants have equal access to the shared amenities.
The Importance of Fairness and Equality #
KUMMUNI is all about fairness and equality. We believe that everyone in a CoLiving space should have equal access to all shared resources, and we do not tolerate any behavior that undermines this principle. By ensuring that everyone can use shared appliances and furniture, we create a harmonious and respectful living environment where all tenants feel valued and supported.
