Legally speaking, the landlord can hold the security deposit for 6 months. However, if you have handed over the property in order, you didn’t receive any Mahnung or Abmahnung during your tenancy, you don’t have any over-due rent and you don’t have a Nachzalung (Over consumption,) your deposit will return to your bank account within 2 months after submitting the request for return on a deposit.
