At KUMMUNI, our deposit policy is designed to ensure fairness while safeguarding the property’s condition. This guide explains how deposit amounts are calculated and highlights available options to make payments more manageable.
Standard Deposit Amount #
The deposit amount is calculated based on your monthly rent. Typically, the deposit is equivalent to one and a half months’ rent. This ensures adequate coverage for potential damages or unpaid bills during your tenancy.
Discount for Liability Insurance Holders #
If you hold valid liability insurance in Germany, you may be eligible for a discount on your deposit. This applies whether your policy is with Feuersozietät Berlin Brandenburg Versicherung AG (our partner) or another reputable insurance provider. Providing proof of liability insurance when signing your contract is essential to qualify for this discount.
Deposit Policy for Contract Extensions #
For tenants extending their contract for an additional year, an updated deposit policy applies:
- Two-Month Deposit Requirement:
- Upon extension, the deposit amount will need to be increased to the equivalent of two months’ rent.
- Payment Flexibility:
- To make this adjustment easier, tenants can pay the difference in three installments over three months.
Important Notes #
- Tenants are encouraged to confirm their eligibility for liability insurance discounts before signing their contract.
- For contract extensions, timely payment of the deposit top-up ensures a smooth continuation of the lease.
