If KUMMUNI is not extending your lease, there could be several reasons behind this decision. Below are the three most common factors:
1. The Property Is No Longer Available (KUMMUNI Can’t) #
KUMMUNI does not own the properties we manage, which means that sometimes the apartment’s owner might decide to take the property back. This could happen if the property is sold to a private owner or if the owner wishes to use the property for personal reasons. In such cases, we are unable to extend your contract.
However, rest assured that you will always be informed in advance, giving you enough time to make new arrangements. Additionally, in 99% of these cases, KUMMUNI offers alternative apartments. The rent for the new apartment will be based on the size of the room, and we strive to find options that suit your needs.
2. Late Request for Lease Extension (KUMMUNI Can’t) #
We understand that life can get busy, which is why KUMMUNI sends reminders to all tenants several days before their lease ends. It is crucial to respond to these reminders and submit an official request for an extension in a timely manner.
If we do not receive your request before your lease expires, the property will be listed again on our website and, in some cases, on third-party platforms. If a new tenant books the apartment and you later decide to stay, KUMMUNI may not be able to extend your current lease. However, we encourage you to explore other available options within the KUMMUNI network.
3. Serious Breach of Contract (KUMMUNI Won’t) #
If there has been a serious breach of the rental contract, this could directly impact your ability to extend the lease. KUMMUNI takes contract compliance seriously, and certain violations can lead to a non-renewal of your lease. These violations might include:
- Failing to pay rent on time
- Withholding rent without a valid reason
- Unauthorized subletting
- Repeated complaints from neighbors or housemates
- Damaging the property
- Poor hygiene or neglect of the living space
Any of these issues, whether individually or collectively, can lead to a decision not to extend your lease.
