- Losing your keys can be a stressful experience, whether you’re living in a private apartment or a CoLiving space. The implications and necessary steps can vary slightly depending on your living situation. KUMMUNI offers support to help you resolve this issue during working hours, but there are important responsibilities you need to be aware of, especially concerning security and costs.
For Private Apartment Tenants #
If you lose your keys while living in a private apartment, the situation primarily affects your own access and security. Here’s what you need to do:
During Working Hours #
- Contact KUMMUNI Support:
If you lose your keys during working hours (Monday to Friday), contact KUMMUNI immediately via the myKUMMUNI app or by phone. We can assist you in regaining access and initiate the process of replacing the lost key. - Liability for Replacement Costs:
Even though KUMMUNI assists with the situation, you will be responsible for the cost of replacing the lost key. The cost varies depending on the type of key, with the main entrance key typically being the most expensive. - Insurance Coverage:
Check with your liability insurance provider to see if they cover the cost of replacing lost keys. If covered, your insurance can help mitigate the financial burden.
After Working Hours #
- Hire a Locksmith:
If you lose your keys outside of working hours, you will need to contact a locksmith to regain access. The cost of this service is your responsibility, and KUMMUNI will not cover these expenses. - Inform KUMMUNI:
Once you’ve regained access, inform KUMMUNI as soon as possible about the situation. This is important for updating records and ensuring that any necessary changes are made.
For CoLiving Apartment Tenants #
Losing your keys in a CoLiving apartment has broader implications because it affects not just you, but also your flatmates. Here’s what you need to do:
During Working Hours #
- Contact KUMMUNI Support Immediately:
If you lose your keys during working hours, contact KUMMUNI through the myKUMMUNI app or by phone. Due to the shared nature of CoLiving spaces, we may need to change the locks on the apartment door, mailbox, and any other shared access points to ensure everyone’s security. - Liability for Lock Changes:
You will be responsible for the cost of changing the locks and providing new keys to your flatmates. This is to ensure that all residents maintain secure access to the apartment. - Insurance Coverage:
Similar to private tenants, check if your liability insurance covers the cost of lost keys and lock changes.
After Working Hours #
- Hire a Locksmith:
If you lose your keys after working hours, you’ll need to hire a locksmith to regain access. While you can regain access, the security risk to your flatmates means that you should have the locks changed as soon as possible. - Inform KUMMUNI Promptly:
After regaining access, inform KUMMUNI about the lost keys and any changes made to the locks. This is crucial for ensuring that all flatmates receive new keys and that the apartment remains secure.
