Smoking is generally strictly forbidden inside KUMMUNI properties, including both private and common areas. However, there are specific exceptions:
- Balconies:
If your apartment includes a balcony, you are permitted to smoke there. It’s important to be considerate and ensure that the smoke does not drift into other apartments or common areas. - Smoking Lounges:
Some KUMMUNI CoLiving spaces offer designated smoking lounges. If you choose to smoke in these areas, you are required to ventilate properly and ensure that the smell does not spread to other rooms. Failing to do so can disturb other tenants and lead to complaints. Read more about the rule for using Smoking Lounges. - Prohibited Areas:
- Indoors: Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the apartments, including shared living spaces.
- Common Areas: According to German house rules and KUMMUNI policies, smoking in common areas such as staircases, hallways, and other indoor communal spaces is not allowed. This includes any area within the building that is accessible to multiple tenants.
Consequences of Violating Smoking Policies #
Violating KUMMUNI’s smoking policies is considered a breach of contract and can have serious consequences:
- Lease Non-Renewal: If you violate the smoking rules, KUMMUNI may choose not to extend your lease.
- Contract Termination: Repeated or severe violations can lead to the termination of your rental contract.
KUMMUNI is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy living environment for all tenants. If you have any concerns about smoking in your building, please report them through our Community Support. We will address the issue directly, ensuring that all tenants adhere to the rules, and we’ll take the necessary steps if a neighbor is violating these policies.
By respecting these guidelines, you contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable living experience for everyone in the KUMMUNI community.
